The new leadership team for the North Carolina Association of Regional Councils of Governments (NCARCOG) started their official duties in January. The association officers for the next two years are listed below.
These officers will guide NCARCOG as it continues to deliver services and support related to the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) across North Carolina through 2026, advocate for policy priorities at the state and national levels, and completes training activities to enhance local government responses to natural or man-made disasters. The North Carolina Association of Regional Councils of Governments (NCARCOG) is a collaborative organization composed of regional councils of government (COGs) within the state of North Carolina. These regional councils are governmental or quasi-governmental agencies that serve as forums for local governments to address issues that cross municipal boundaries, such as economic development, land use planning, transportation, and environmental protection.
NCARCOG plays a key role in advocating for regional solutions to multi-jurisdictional challenges, promoting coordinated service delivery between state, federal, and local governments, and building strategic partnerships to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of government services. It supports its member COGs by providing a unified voice on policy matters, facilitating knowledge sharing and best practices, and seeking funding and legislative support for regional initiatives.
The association is involved in a wide range of activities, from aging services and disaster resiliency efforts to transit planning and high-speed broadband expansion, reflecting its commitment to enhancing the prosperity and resilience of communities across North Carolina’s rural and urban areas. Through its policy agenda and other efforts, NCARCOG aims to strengthen the capacity of local governments, promote economic development, and improve the quality of life for North Carolinians.
